Today's Upbeat Authors topic is Generosity.
In prepping to today's post, I found this: If you ever want to grow, you need to give. This is true, and it works for every aspect of your life. Give of your time, your money, your encouragement, your expertise. Give freely, without any concern of what you can get in return.
Give because you want to make the world better, even if, to you, what you are giving is the smallest, tiniest thing, because you never know how great it will seem to the recipient.
“Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.” Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
"Generosity is the most natural outward expression of an inner attitude of compassion and loving-kindness." Dalai Lama
"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." Winston Churchill
I grew up with parents who would, and still do, give generously of their time, of whatever they have. Time and time again, they've shown by example in giving whatever they have to help make someone's life easier or better, and not asking for or expecting anything in return.
Generosity, in words, in deeds, sends a ripple of love out into the world. it counteracts and washes away some of the negativity and hostility. And I do believe it comes back to you. Give as generously as you can, whether it's knowledge, time, attention, a helping hand, food, money, a hug. Your action might just restore someone's faith in humanity.
