This week's Upbeat Authors topic is: Gratitude.
The quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.
Begin each day with a thankful heart.
It can be hard to do that when the stress of everyday life creeps in. But even when life feels dark and gray, or like there really isn't anything positive going on, there are still things that are positive, and things to be grateful for.
Be grateful for the little things and the big things, for family and friends, for small acts of kindness. Starting a journal can be helpful, or take a few minutes at the end of each day to list five things that happened to you that you're grateful for, whether it's someone offering a helping hand, or even just that the sun was shining bright in a cloudless sky after three days of rain. I guarantee that when you think about it, you'll find things. And you'll be happier.
Really. Being grateful does make us happier. (Someone did a study and proved this.)
Being grateful helps you to have a more positive outlook. And, having an attitude of gratitude also makes you healthier. (Yep, referring to that study again.)
It lets you have a richer, fuller life. You end up looking for the good, the positives in everyday situations. And, you'll find them.
One of my favorite songs about gratitude is Josh Groban's Thankful.
There is always something to be thankful for. Always.
