Every week we’ll answer questions and after you’ve enjoyed the blog on this site we’ll direct you to another. So come back often for a thrilling ride! Tell your friends and feel free to ask us questions in the comment box.

Hello! This is my first week on this blog, and I'm so happy to be surrounded with such an amazing group of writers. Kim Handysides was the previous stop.

1. How do you respond to someone calling your writing smut or demeaning your work in some other way?

I've found the only people who demean what I do are the people who have never read a romance novel. I respond by asking them which romance novels they've read. If they haven't read any, I tell them to give one a try before judging an entire genre. I also tell them I write realistic love stories, much like the one they are living with their significant other. Don't they remember the initial rush of feelings, the first kiss, the first "I love you", the moment they realized they'd found "the one", etc.? I write to entertain, to share my stories and hopefully give the reader a story that will stay with them long after they've read The End. You can have an intelligent debate without resorting to insults. I may not change their opinion, and that's okay. You can't make everyone like you or what you do, but you can react well and not let one person's opinion ruin your day, your outlook, or your passion.

2. When critiquing or beta reading, do you ever find the voice of the other author creeping into your writing?

Not really. The authors I've beta read or critiqued for have different voices from mine. I love reading their work and admire their talent but my characters are pretty adamant about the way they want to express themselves.

3. What’s one quirky thing you do or must have around you while writing?

When I'm writing at home, I only use my coffee mug from the Pro-Football Hall of Fame. It has an awesome quote by Vince Lombardi. I'm a huge football fan and his quotes are so inspiring. Having that by my side, and a particular scented candle lit, creates an atmosphere perfect for writing. When I'm writing anyplace else, anything goes. I like to be adaptable to my environment.
