Playlist for Scoring Slater

Slater Knox and Noah Alzado are best friends, teammates, roommates, and secretly in love with each other. This was one of the hardest books for me to write (mostly due to external factors), but it's also one of my favorites. I love their relationship. I hope you love their story too.

This is the playlist that I listened to as I wrote the story:

Buzz - Halestorm

You're My Best Friend - Queen

If You Only Knew - Shinedown

Kryptonite - 3 Doors Down

Song #3 - Stone Sour

If You're Gone - Matchbox Twenty

Bet My Heart - Maroon 5

Closer - Lacuna Coil

Possession - Evans Blue (Sarah McLachlan cover)

Smile - Sixx: A.M.

Thick as Thieves - Shinedown

Hearts Burst into Fire - Bullet for My Valentine

Nothing Compares 2 U - Chris Cornell (Prince cover)

It's Not Over - Daughtry

The Man to Hold the Water - Rob Thomas

I Live My Life for You - Lifehouse

Only Love - Mumford & Sons

The songs fit Slater and Noah's relationship pretty well. Buzz is all about wanting. Queen's You're My Best Friend and Shinedown's Thick as Thieves sum up their relationship (the friendship and everything else) perfectly. Kryptonite is very Slater, with his love of comic books and how he feels about Noah. Song #3 is very fitting for their relationship early in the book. Check out these lyrics:

If you take a step towards me

You will take my breath away

So I'll keep you close

And keep my secret safe

See? :-) Perfect.

If You're Gone, Bet My Heart, Closer, Possession, and Smile capture the middle of the story. Hearts Burst into Fire, Nothing Compares 2 U, and It's Not Over come in strong to batter their hearts, and lastly The Man to Hold the Water, I Live My Life for You, and Only Love round out the story, steeped in love.

More about my hockey-playing heroes:

Slater Knox is known around the league as the tough enforcer for the Buffalo Bedlam. His popular social media accounts and open relationship with the fans have made him one of the most beloved players in hockey. They've also earned him a spot in the All-Star game, and an invitation to be a bachelor at a charity auction. For all his living in the spotlight, he's hiding a secret... He's in love with his best friend and keeping quiet grows harder each day. Noah Alzado is the newest addition to the Bedlam, and has spent the last few months joined at the hip with his best friend Slater. Slater is everything Noah wants, but won't let himself have. They are best friends, roommates, and teammates, that's three complications too many. Plus, Noah guards his private life as fiercely as Slater shares his own. His best option is to keep his head down, help his team win, and not do anything stupid... like kissing Slater again. Everything comes to a head during All-Star weekend, where the best in the league compete for ultimate bragging rights, and at the auction, where temptation is hot enough to melt the ice. The chemistry between Slater and Noah is scorching, but can they lower their defenses enough to make a play for love?
